My Magic Dominated for Oscar

Eric Khoo's My Magic had been domninated for Oscar Entry by Singapore Film Commission (SFC). My Magic is a story of the relationship between a magician and his son, has mostly Tamil dialogue, with some Hokkien.

The movie was the first Singapore film to be invited to take part in the prestigious Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) competition at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Khoo, 42, told Life! that he is 'very, very happy' with the Oscars submission. He is sure that this time, the film will not run afoul of the language rules.

Roystan Unshown Film, Cut (Singapore Censorship)

This is something that is controversial. Nevertheless, it shows the creativity of our Singaporean Director, Roystan Tan. This film was made partly because of the film, 15, when it garner the most cuts from Singapore Board of Censorship. It is a very "nice" way to present them Singaporean Director frustration.

Kallang Roar The Movie

Saw a blog on Kallang Roar the Movie. It shows that they are already recruiting people to play the different roles in the Movie in Dec 2007.

Below are some of the talents they are seeking: -

1. *Kim Song* – (20s) Very hardworking, good looking, traditionally Chinese in character. Sometimes even rigid.

2. *Dollah Kassim* – (20s-30s) The Gelek king of the 70s. Skillful striker. Jovial and brazilian in nature. Soft spoken. Friendly. Enjoys the game.


3. *Rajagopal *– (20s-30s) Most skillful player in Singapore team, with his one shot one kill banana kick corners. A courageous coward. Can be heroic, but would not push beyond his own limit to become even better. Comical but how-lian.


4. *Mohd Noh* – (20s) The David Beckham of his time. He is a Japanese malay. Coming from a poor family, he balances the challenge of going out of Singapore singer Rahimah Rahim and playing for his nation. Good looking, very shy.


5. *Samad Alapitchay* – (20s-30s) Captain of Singapore team. Most charismatic, strong leader. But plagued by gambling and money problems. Strong tall, superhero jaw. Tall. Well built. Curly maradona hair. Charismatic acting required. Uprighteous. Looks like a leader.


6. *Majid Ariff* – (30s-40s) One of the greatest players in Singapore in history. Loyal assistant coach to Uncle Choo.


7. *Boon Kheng* – (20s-30s) Best student of Uncle Choo and coach of the final team, penang, likes to munch on Keropok. Suppose to be evil version of uncle CHOO. Charismatic, intelligent.


8. *Mokhtar Dahari* – (20s-30s) Malaysia soccer god. Invincible. Bent on revenge after missing out on the Singapore Malaysia tie due to injury, and hence losing out his final chance to play in the World Cup, he sets his sights on destroying the Singapore team. A true professional, top class maradona like athlete with a power shot. Charismatic, excellent player with powerful legs.


9. *Arumugam* –(30) a.k.a Spiderman, long armed goalkeeper. Will wear long sleeves that extend beyond his gloves.


10. *Ah Tiang* – (30s-40s) colleague of Samad. Knows nothing about football, always coaxed into helping Samad. Compromising and irritable by Samad's exploitation of him.


11. *Kim Song's Father *– (40s-50s) has had enough of football. Only wishes that his youngest son settle down with a stable job and get married. Old father who looks bochup and has weight in his words.


12. *Kim Song's mother* – (40s-50s) wishes for more communication between father and Kim Song. Very loving of Kim Song and also the bridge between father and son communication)


13. *Samad's wife *– (20s) Noorizan - a supporting wife who believes in her husband a lot.


14. *Doctor *– (40s-50s) tells Uncle CHOO he has Gangrene. Compassionate and unfazed by uncle Choo's temper.


15. *Eric Paine* – (30s) Caucasian goalkeeper of Singapore with black eyes.


16. *Edmund Wee* – (20s-30s) Chinese goalkeeper of Singapore. Strong arms and earnest personality.


17. *Rahima Rahim* - (20s) Famous singer during the 1970s. Gorgeous and classy.



I guess everyone is to late for those position as the show is already showing. Here's an interesting picture that they posted on the blog. BTW, I am not sure if they are the "real" people in charge of the recruitment.

Who is behind "The Days"?

I am not sure too? However, Internet is the easiest way to find the answer. :) Before we start, here are some trailer of the movie The director: Boi kwong Believe it or not, he is a lecturer. Some information on him. BOI KWONG, the director and creator of the project – whose story is inspired by his own personal experience – has over 10 years of experience in film production. Boi graduated from Temasek Polytechnic as the top student and recipient of an AVID scholarship. He then pursued his Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications at Curtin University of Technology, Australia. His strong work attitude and eye for direction propelled him to receive the Special Jury Prize award at the Singapore International Film Festival’s Silver Screen Awards in 2000. He has since worked with acclaimed production houses on television commercials, music videos and feature film projects. Currently, Boi is a lecturer at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College East. He also sits on the Digital Audio & Video production developing committee at the institution. Boi volunteers with the Prison Service, teaching screen writing and video production to the inmates of Kaki Bukit prison school. This film has taken him years to prepare and is his feature film debut. The Cast JUSTIN CHAN, 陳嘉健, was discovered during the Singtel Sinema Mobitions, an open audition call contest in 2007. IVAN LIM, 林殿文, is currently a student at Temasek Polytechnic. ADELE WONG, 王惠珊, plays SHAN SHAN, the voice of reason with her own untold past. This will be the versatile actor, singer and host’s first feature film. Adele has appeared in such short films as “Idle Dreams”, “Garden Girls”, “Pixie Crushers” and will soon be seen in “A Game of You”, part of the “Dystopia” project helmed by 10 Singapore directors. She has appeared in numerous television series and TV commercials including Kids Central’s “The Magic Garden” and “Ubin Boy”. Adele is also singing an original song 《懂 Knowing》 for the film. Adele is represented by Fly Entertainment.  
  AVERY ANG, 洪國雄, Derrick R., Kevin Tan, 陳宋良, Anthony Levi Kho, 許智強, portray the remaining three of “The 4 Heavenly Kings” – COCKROACH, the loudmouth; DOG, the silent fighter; TAUPER, the motorbike riding free soul – and their surrogate leader JEREMY TAN. All newcomers - they performed all their own stunts in the film. Anthony is a professional photographer who also served as the film’s on-set photographer. JASON HO, 何書盛, plays RAT, the rival gang member who clashes with our lead characters. Jason also served as the film’s on-set photographer and is a student at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. YEO YANN YANN, 楊雁, was last seen in 2007’s smash hit “881”. For “歲月 THE DAYS” she has transformed herself into a feisty beer lady – JINHUA. Her role as Mei in the film “Singapore Dreaming” garnered rave reviews. Independent film credits include “High Cost of Living” and “Heave”. Yann has also appeared in a variety of Mandarin television sitcoms and dramas in Singapore like “Buo Yin Ren” and “Feng Niao” as well as Channel U’s variety programme, “Food Gone Bananas”. She also appeared in a local telemovie, “18 grams of Love” and a Ch 5 series, “Stories of Love 2” and “Mualaf”, by the renowned Malaysian Yasmin Ahmad. Veteran Mediacorp Artiste RICHARD LOW, 劉謙益, plays LIU LIAN SU (DURIAN UNCLE). Richard has appeared in the acclaimed “Singapore Dreaming” by Colin Coh and Woo Yen Yen, as well as Jack Neo’s “I Not Stupid” and recent “Ah Long Pte Ltd”. He has acted in over 100 television series.
